The 10-Minute Self-Search

Search your own posts for what a social media check looks for, while your exports are on the way. Exports can take hours, or up to 30 days for Reddit. You can still check the obvious things today. Type your usernames and we build the searches. The links open on X and Reddit, and your usernames stay in your browser.

Starter terms can’t know your history. Add any word you’d wince to see quoted. Up to 12.

Nothing you type here is sent to PruneSocial or saved.

Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn

These don’t let you search your own history well. Spend two minutes scrolling each list instead.

What each search looks for

Mild starter terms for the seven categories in our published methodology. They catch the obvious things, not everything.

Haven’t requested your exports yet?

The export checklist has the steps for all nine platforms. Request them now, then set one reminder below so you know when to come back.

Questions

Does PruneSocial see my usernames or results?

No. The links are built in your browser and open X or Reddit directly. Your usernames, the words you add and anything you find never reach PruneSocial.

Is this as thorough as a report?

No. Search only finds the words you think of, on the platforms that let you search your own history. It misses likes, slang, sarcasm and comments you left on other people's posts. Your data export holds all of that.

Why search before my export arrives?

Exports take from a few minutes to 30 days. This lets you check and fix the obvious things today, then run the free preview when the file lands.

A search can miss things or turn up items that are fine. It doesn’t predict any employer’s decision. For career centers: share this page with students for free, no signup. More for career centers.
