Questions about your report, a refund, or an export. Start here.
Contact us
Email hello@prunesocial.com. It comes straight to the person who runs PruneSocial, and replies usually take about two business days. If you're writing about a purchase, include the email address you used at checkout.
Please don't email your social media exports, posts, or passwords. We never need them to help with an issue.
My report hasn't arrived
Your full report is generated after you upload your files, usually within a few minutes. We email you a private link to download it as a PDF. The link works for 14 days, so download the PDF to keep it. Large exports can take longer. Check your spam or junk folder for a message from hello@prunesocial.com. If it still isn't there after about an hour, email us with the address you used at checkout and we'll sort it out. A report run that doesn't finish doesn't count against your allowance.
I need to run another report
Your payment confirmation email has a link back to your scan page. A Screening Report includes up to 3 report runs within 60 days of purchase. Each report is a separate PDF email.
Refunds and our 30-day guarantee
If your report isn't useful for any reason, email hello@prunesocial.com within 30 days of your first report for a full refund, including any add-on. Haven't run a report yet? You have 60 days from purchase. Refunds go back to the original payment method. After that, purchases are final. Your report email lists the date. The Risk Preview is free, so there's nothing to refund. The full terms are on the Terms page.
My export hasn't arrived, or I can't find the right files
Every platform takes a different amount of time, from minutes to a day or two, and Reddit asks you to allow up to 30 days, though some people get theirs within hours. You can run your report without it and add Reddit in a later run. Our step-by-step export guides show exactly which settings to choose for X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, and Pinterest. You can drop the ZIP files into the scan page as they arrive.
I think a flag is wrong
AI scoring can miss things or flag things a person wouldn't. Use the wrong-flag form with the report ID from the top of your PDF (it looks like PS-AB12CD34-R1) and the finding number. You don't have to include the post itself. We read every one, and it only helps us improve the scoring.
What happens to my data?
Your submitted content is used only to build your report and is deleted from our systems once the report is sent. Reports are never furnished to employers, recruiters, or screening companies. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Who can use PruneSocial?
You must be at least 18 and a resident of the United States, and you can only submit exports from accounts you own or control. PruneSocial is a self-review tool and can't be used to screen anyone else.
More questions
Why is it called PruneSocial?
Pruning is the selective removal of specific branches, buds, or growth, done not to harm a plant but to keep it healthy, safe, and productive. That's the model here. You're not deleting your entire online history or starting over from nothing, you're selectively removing the specific posts, comments, and likes a screener's rubric would flag, the parts putting your job prospects at risk. Every Consider or Review item in your report is something to prune: one targeted cut, not a clear-cut of everything you've ever posted.
Which companies actually run these checks?
Employers may review public social media themselves or use third-party screening providers. Vendors such as Fama and Checkr publicly describe social media screening products and methodologies. PruneSocial isn't affiliated with any screening vendor and doesn't reproduce any proprietary system. It uses publicly documented categories and lookback practices to build its own rubric, so a report is an estimate of what a screener could flag, not a guarantee of what a specific vendor's system would return.
Do all employers actually check social media?
No, and it varies by employer, role, and field. A 2023 ResumeBuilder survey of 1,013 hiring managers found that nearly 75% said they check applicants' social media, and reporting on it described managers as largely split on whether they pass on candidates because of what they find. Those are self-reported numbers from a survey run by a resume site, so treat them as a signal, not an exact rate. It also implies roughly a quarter of hiring managers do not screen this way. Some employers look informally, some use a screening provider, and some do not look at all. Since you usually can't tell which kind you're dealing with, a review before you apply is cheap insurance.
Does this matter if I'm applying to a big tech company?
Yes. Some employers use third-party screening providers, while others may review publicly available profiles themselves. Scope varies by employer, provider, platform, and role. One important limit: if a review has already captured content before you remove it, cleaning it up afterward doesn't erase the earlier copy. That's why PruneSocial is most useful before you apply.
Is this legal?
Reviewing your own public content is a normal, low-risk thing to do, since it's your own data. Laws can vary by jurisdiction and circumstance, and PruneSocial doesn't provide legal advice.
Will an employer find out I ran it?
No employer or recruiter receives your PruneSocial report. It's created for your private self-review and isn't furnished for employment or other eligibility decisions.
Is this a subscription?
No. The $49 Screening Report is a one-time payment. There is no account, nothing renews, and nothing to cancel. The optional Full History add-on is also one-time.
Is there a version that goes back more than seven years?
Yes. The Screening Report covers the last seven years, which is the lookback window screening vendors commonly describe. The optional Full History add-on (+$30, $79 total) covers every year in your exports, up to 25,000 items, with a complete findings file you can open in a spreadsheet and an optional watchlist of names and words. You add it with a checkbox at checkout on the scan page. After you add your files, the page shows how many of your items are older than seven years.
I already deleted my old accounts, do I still need this?
Deleting an account removes much of what you posted there, but screenshots, reposts, archives, and other copies can outlive it, and a deleted account can't be exported for PruneSocial to review. Tagged photos and other content about you also aren't reliably included in the supported text PruneSocial scores, so review those separately.
I have a prepaid pack code. How do I use it?
Go to the scan page, tick both consent boxes, open "Have a prepaid pack code?", and enter the code. You will then enter your own email address at checkout, with nothing to pay, and upload your own exports as usual. The code covers one Screening Report, with up to 3 report runs within 60 days. The organization that gave you the code never sees your report.
My code says it is invalid or already used.
Check it for typos first, since codes avoid the letters O and I and the numbers 0 and 1. Each code works once, so a code that has been used cannot be used again. If you believe it is a mistake, email hello@prunesocial.com with the code and we will look into it.
